Comic Vault: Grade & Value

Introduction

Comic Vault provides automated, potentially inaccurate estimates only, not certified grades, authentication, appraisals, investment advice, insurance valuations, or guarantees of resale proceeds. Do not use an estimate as the sole basis for any transaction. You retain all decision-making responsibility. Your content remains yours, subject to the limited operating license below. Google Play administers purchases and subscriptions.

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) constitute a binding agreement between you and Robert A. Rivadeneira, an individual operating Comic Vault: Grade & Value (“Comic Vault,” “we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Operator”), concerning your access to and use of the Comic Vault mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

You must affirmatively accept these Terms before creating an account or using the Service. By selecting an unchecked checkbox or other clearly labeled affirmative acceptance control indicating that you agree to these Terms, you acknowledge that you have had an opportunity to review them and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, you may not create an account or use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy, available at https://getcomicvault.app/privacy, describes our personal-information practices.

Effective date: November 2, 2026

1. Grades and values are estimates only

Comic Vault uses third-party generative AI to predict comic identity, edition, condition and an indicative raw-book value range based on submitted images and other inputs. Outputs are probabilistic, may be fabricated, inconsistent, outdated, incomplete or wrong, and do not constitute an inspection, verification, certification, appraisal, expert opinion, financial recommendation, offer to purchase, or guarantee of price or insurability. The displayed 0.5–10 scale is descriptive only and is not a grading-company certification. No fiduciary, advisory, appraisal or special relationship arises from providing an output.

Images cannot reliably reveal restoration, counterfeit status, missing pages, interior defects, printing variants, structural damage or other material characteristics. The AI may misidentify issues and prices; market conditions, transaction costs and individual buyer preferences vary. Value ranges are not live quotes or verified comparable sales. Before buying, selling, lending against, donating, trading, or insuring comics, independently verify identity, authenticity, condition and current completed-sale prices and consult qualified grading, appraisal, tax or insurance professionals where appropriate. You assume the risk of acting on any estimate.

Comic Vault is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by CGC, CBCS, PGX or any other grading company, or by any comic publisher. Comic titles, characters and cover art belong to their respective owners.

2. Who can use Comic Vault

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding agreement. You represent that you satisfy these requirements and that information supplied is accurate. You are responsible for account security, activity under your credentials, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access. We may verify eligibility and suspend accounts that do not qualify.

The Service is intended solely for individuals who are at least 18 years old and is not directed to minors. We do not knowingly permit individuals under 18 to maintain accounts. We may use reasonable, proportionate methods to verify eligibility and may suspend or terminate an account if we reasonably determine that its user does not satisfy these requirements. Personal information associated with an ineligible account will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

3. Scans, subscriptions and purchases

Free Scans; Subscription; Scan Packs. Subject to availability and these Terms, new eligible accounts receive ten (10) complimentary scans. The Collector subscription currently provides up to one hundred (100) subscription scans per monthly billing period for $4.99 per month, subject to the price displayed and accepted through Google Play. Unused monthly subscription scans do not carry forward into subsequent billing periods.

A one-time purchase of twenty-five (25) additional scans is currently offered for $2.99, subject to the price displayed and accepted through Google Play. Purchased scan-pack credits do not expire solely because time passes, but remain subject to account status, applicable law, and any disclosed restrictions.

Scan Credits and Consumption. When a scan begins, one available scan credit is temporarily reserved. If the scan fails, the submitted image is not recognized as a comic book, or the Service requests a replacement photograph without producing a completed result, the reserved credit is automatically restored. A scan credit is permanently deducted only when a completed grading result is returned.

Available Collector subscription scans are consumed first. After those scans are exhausted, credits are consumed from a combined balance consisting of complimentary scans and purchased scan-pack credits. The Service does not separately track or prioritize complimentary and purchased credits within that combined balance.

Unused scan credits have no cash redemption value and may not be sold or independently transferred between users or accounts. However, when a user restores a Google Play purchase while signed into a different Comic Vault account, the associated active Collector subscription and its remaining monthly scan entitlement may be reassigned to that account. Such reassignment is governed by the verified Google Play purchase entitlement and does not authorize transferring or duplicating scan balances between accounts.

Subject to applicable law, unused scan credits associated with an account are forfeited upon permanent account deletion. Purchased scan-pack credits do not expire solely because time passes. We may establish reasonable technical and anti-abuse controls to prevent duplicate credit use, fraudulent purchases, or circumvention of scan limits.

Prices, products, taxes, and availability may vary by jurisdiction or change prospectively as permitted by applicable law and Google Play requirements. The purchase screen controls the price and billing terms presented for a particular transaction.

Subscriptions and Automatic Renewal. Collector subscriptions automatically renew for successive monthly billing periods unless canceled before the next renewal in accordance with Google Play procedures. Before a subscription is purchased, the applicable purchase interface will disclose the recurring price, billing interval, automatic-renewal terms, material restrictions, and cancellation method, and will obtain any affirmative consent required by applicable law.

Google Play processes subscription and in-app purchase payments and administers applicable billing and refund procedures. RevenueCat assists us in verifying purchases and managing access entitlements but does not independently process your payment-card transaction for these purchases.

Cancellation. You may manage or cancel a Google Play subscription through Google Play's subscription-management interface. Subscribers may use the “Manage Subscription” button in the Service to open Google Play's subscription-management interface. Uninstalling Comic Vault or deleting your Comic Vault account does not automatically cancel your Google Play subscription. Cancellation ordinarily prevents the next renewal; access generally continues through the period already paid for, subject to applicable law and Google Play terms.

Renewal and Price Notices. We will provide, or arrange for delivery of, legally required purchase acknowledgments, renewal notices, promotional-expiration notices, and material price-change notices. We will obtain additional consent where required before implementing a change to an existing subscription.

Refunds. Refund eligibility and processing are governed by applicable consumer law and Google Play's applicable purchase and refund procedures. Nothing in these Terms limits a refund or other remedy that applicable law requires.

We may modify future pricing, scan allocations, features or limits with notice and consent when required by Google Play or applicable law. Existing subscription changes will be implemented only as permitted by the applicable billing rules; you may cancel before a change takes effect.

4. Your content

You retain whatever ownership and other rights you lawfully possess in photographs, notes, and collection information you submit. You represent that you have the rights or other lawful basis necessary to submit the content and authorize its processing for the features you request.

You grant the Operator and its authorized service providers a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, transmit, resize, analyze, format, display, and otherwise technically process your submissions as reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service in accordance with our Privacy Policy. This includes transmitting selected images and associated prompts to our AI service provider to generate requested results.

This license ends when the relevant content is deleted from active systems, except to the extent continued processing or retention is reasonably necessary for backups, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or other purposes disclosed in the Privacy Policy and permitted by law.

Third-party comic artwork, characters, logos, and trademarks remain subject to their respective owners' rights. We do not grant rights in third-party intellectual property. AI-generated outputs may not be unique, accurate, or protectable by intellectual-property law, and we do not promise users exclusive rights in such outputs.

To the extent permitted by applicable law and consistent with our Privacy Policy, the Operator may create, use, and retain aggregated information or information that has been effectively de-identified and is maintained so that it cannot reasonably be used to identify a particular individual. This does not authorize undisclosed use of identifiable photographs or collection records for model training.

5. Acceptable use

You may not: (a) violate law or others’ intellectual-property, privacy or publicity rights; (b) upload illegal, abusive or unauthorized content; (c) evade fees, limits or access controls, scrape or bulk-extract results, or use bots; (d) probe security, reverse engineer except where law prohibits restriction, interfere with the service or train competing models on bulk outputs; (e) misrepresent an AI estimate as certified or professional; or (f) use the service to defraud buyers, sellers, insurers or other third parties. We may investigate and remove content or restrict access proportionately, subject to mandatory law.

You may submit photographs of comic books that you lawfully possess or are otherwise authorized to photograph and analyze, solely for the functionality permitted by the Service. You may not upload materials obtained or used unlawfully, reproduce or distribute third-party copyrighted content beyond applicable authorization or legal exceptions, or use the Service to infringe intellectual-property rights. Ownership of a physical comic book does not, by itself, transfer copyright in its artwork or contents.

You may not misrepresent a comic book's provenance, authenticity, ownership, condition, or grading status, or use any Service output to deceive purchasers, sellers, insurers, marketplaces, or other persons.

6. Ending your use

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account through Account → Delete Account, through the account-deletion instructions at https://getcomicvault.app/delete-account, or by emailing support@getcomicvault.app.

We may suspend or terminate accounts of repeat copyright infringers in appropriate circumstances, as well as accounts involved in fraud, security abuse, material violations of these Terms, or other conduct for which termination is legally justified.

If we discontinue the Service or terminate an account solely for our convenience, rather than because of the user's breach or misconduct, we will provide any refund or other remedy required by applicable law. Any refund of unused prepaid subscription value will be administered through available Google Play procedures or another lawful method. Termination for a material user breach does not create an entitlement to a discretionary refund, except where required by applicable law.

7. No warranty

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE, AI OUTPUTS AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, SECURITY, CONTINUITY OR RESULTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY COMIC IS AUTHENTIC, COMPLETE, RESTORATION-FREE, INSURABLE OR SALEABLE AT A STATED PRICE. NOTHING EXCLUDES WARRANTIES OR REMEDIES THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE OPERATOR AND ITS OWNERS, PERSONNEL, AGENTS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST SALES, DIMINUTION IN COMIC-BOOK VALUE, OR LOSSES ARISING FROM PURCHASE, SALE, INSURANCE, OR OTHER DECISIONS BASED ON SERVICE OUTPUTS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE OPERATOR'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY UNITED STATES DOLLARS (US $50).

NOTHING IN THIS SECTION EXCLUDES OR LIMITS LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, GROSS NEGLIGENCE TO THE EXTENT SUCH LIABILITY CANNOT LAWFULLY BE LIMITED, PERSONAL INJURY TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY LAW, OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY OR REMEDY THAT APPLICABLE LAW DOES NOT PERMIT THE PARTIES TO EXCLUDE OR LIMIT.

THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY ASSERTED, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AND REFLECT THE PARTIES' ALLOCATION OF RISK IN LIGHT OF THE SERVICE'S PRICING AND PURPOSE.

9. Governing law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and disputes arising out of or relating to the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent mandatory consumer-protection laws applicable to a user cannot lawfully be displaced by this choice of law.

Before initiating formal legal proceedings, the party asserting a dispute will provide written notice describing the dispute and the relief requested. Notices to the Operator may be sent to support@getcomicvault.app. The parties will attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for thirty (30) days after receipt of the notice, unless immediate proceedings are necessary to preserve rights, obtain emergency relief, comply with a mandatory filing deadline, or pursue a claim in small claims court.

Subject to applicable mandatory law, disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in a state court of competent jurisdiction in Georgia or, where federal subject-matter jurisdiction exists, the appropriate United States District Court in Georgia. Eligible claims may be brought in a Georgia magistrate court or other court exercising small-claims jurisdiction, provided that court has jurisdiction over the parties and the claim.

Nothing in this Section deprives a consumer of a court, venue, remedy, or other protection that applicable nonwaivable law requires to remain available.

10. Changes to these terms

We may amend these Terms prospectively to reflect changes in the Service, applicable law, security requirements, or business operations. We will identify the effective date of the revised Terms and provide reasonable advance notice of material amendments.

Where a material amendment requires renewed contractual assent, we will obtain affirmative acceptance before applying that amendment to the user. We will not impose a new arbitration obligation or retroactively alter accrued claims merely through passive continued use.

Changes to subscription prices or automatic-renewal terms will also comply with applicable purchase, notification, and consent requirements. If a user declines a material amendment, we may discontinue that user's access to affected services, subject to applicable law and any rights relating to prepaid purchases.

11. RESERVED

12. Operator identity and business succession

The Service is presently operated by Robert A. Rivadeneira, an individual doing business as Comic Vault: Grade & Value. The Service may subsequently be transferred to a legally established business entity in accordance with this Section and applicable law.

The Operator may assign these Terms and transfer the Service and associated user accounts to a successor that acquires or assumes operation of the business, subject to applicable privacy law, required notices, and any legally required consent. The successor must assume the contractual obligations applicable to its operation of the Service following the transfer.

We will identify the successor by its actual legal name and contact information and obtain renewed acceptance of the Terms where required. No transfer or assignment, by itself, releases the individual Operator from liabilities incurred before the transfer unless a legally effective release, novation, or other applicable rule provides otherwise.

13. Limited app license and intellectual property

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to access and use the Service for lawful personal collection-management purposes.

The Operator and its licensors retain all rights they possess in the Service, including its software, source code, interfaces, original content, proprietary prompts, workflows, trade secrets, trademarks, service marks, and protectable databases or compilations. No ownership interest in the Service is transferred to you. Nothing in these Terms claims ownership of third-party AI models, comic artwork, user-owned materials, or material that is not legally subject to exclusive ownership.

You may not reproduce, distribute, commercially exploit, or use our names, logos, or other branding in a manner suggesting sponsorship or endorsement without authorization, except as permitted by applicable law.

If you voluntarily provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant the Operator a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to use and incorporate that feedback for lawful business purposes without compensation, subject to applicable privacy law. This license does not transfer ownership of unrelated content or override applicable personal-information rights.

14. User Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Operator and its personnel from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, and reasonable legal expenses arising from: (a) content you unlawfully submit or publicly distribute; (b) your infringement or misappropriation of another person's intellectual-property, privacy, or publicity rights; (c) your fraud or intentional misconduct; (d) your material violation of the acceptable-use requirements; or (e) your knowing misrepresentation of Service outputs as certified grades, professional appraisals, or guaranteed values.

We will provide reasonably prompt notice of an indemnified claim, subject to any prejudice caused by delayed notice. We may assume control of the defense using reasonably qualified counsel, and you agree to provide reasonable cooperation. We will not settle a claim in a manner imposing an admission of wrongdoing or a nonmonetary obligation on you without your consent, not to be unreasonably withheld. You may not settle a claim in a manner admitting our liability or imposing obligations on us without our prior written consent.

This section does not require you to indemnify us for our own negligence, misconduct, or violations of applicable law to the extent such indemnification is prohibited, and it does not limit any nonwaivable consumer right.

15. RESERVED

16. User Sharing and Copyright Complaints

User Sharing. The Service allows users to generate a shareable image of an individual comic book or collection using functionality on their device. Before sharing, users may choose whether to include estimated values and recorded purchase prices through the available sharing controls.

When a user selects “Share,” the Service generates the selected image locally on the user's device and opens the device's native sharing interface. Comic Vault does not itself publish the image, create a public link, or make the user's collection publicly accessible. The user selects the destination and recipient through the device's sharing functionality.

Once information is transmitted through a third-party application or service, the recipient or third-party provider may copy, retain, distribute, or otherwise process that information. Comic Vault cannot control copies shared outside the Service.

You remain responsible for ensuring that your sharing activities comply with applicable law and third-party intellectual-property rights. You may not represent an AI-generated grade or value as a certified grade, professional appraisal, guaranteed sale price, or endorsement by a grading company or publisher.

Copyright Complaints. If you believe material available through the Service infringes your copyright, you may submit a written complaint to support@getcomicvault.app identifying the copyrighted work, the allegedly infringing material and its location, your contact information, a statement of your good-faith belief that the disputed use is unauthorized, a statement of accuracy and authority made under penalty of perjury, and your physical or electronic signature.

We may remove or disable access to allegedly infringing material, notify affected users as appropriate, review counter-notifications, restore material when legally appropriate, and terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

Copyright Complaints and Repeat Infringers. We maintain procedures for receiving and reviewing copyright complaints and may remove or disable access to infringing material and terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. Copyright complaints may be submitted to support@getcomicvault.app. If we designate and register a copyright agent under 17 U.S.C. § 512, we will publish the agent's required contact information and complete the applicable registration.

17. Miscellaneous

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain effective to the extent permitted by law, except where these Terms expressly provide a different result.

No Waiver. Failure to enforce a provision does not waive the right to enforce it subsequently.

Assignment. The Operator may assign these Terms in connection with a lawful transfer of the Service or business, subject to Section 12 and applicable law. You may not transfer your account or contractual rights without our prior written consent, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with any additional policies expressly incorporated by reference and made accessible to you, constitute the agreement governing use of the Service, subject to applicable Google Play purchase terms. Our Privacy Policy separately describes personal-information practices and does not waive or restrict statutory privacy rights.
